Ideology rarely announces itself. It settles into lexical choices, syntactic structures, metaphors, presuppositions, images, and the silent assumptions a text takes for granted. Yet the traditions that study discourse, from linguistic and pragmatic to cognitive, semiotic, and critical approaches, have often examined these dimensions in isolation. This book asks how they can be integrated into a coherent procedure capable of following ideology as it moves through discourse. Drawing on Critical Discourse Analysis, socio-cognitive and historical approaches, and the principle of intersectionality, the book develops the Three-Layer and Six-Dimension Framework. Its linguistic-structural, pragmatic-cognitive, and socio-ideological layers are operationalized through contextual, participant, communicative, linguistic-semiotic, pragmatic-cognitive, and socio-ideological dimensions, conceived as an analytical network rather than a linear checklist. After mapping major ideological frameworks, from neoliberalism and nationalism to feminism and environmentalism, the book applies the model to naturally occurring political and diplomatic discourse, including United Nations addresses and the 1989 Berlin press conference. Rather than attaching a single ideological label to a text, the framework reveals how several ideologies intersect, reinforce, or contradict one another. Grounded in critical pedagogy, it offers students and researchers in higher education a rigorous and adaptable instrument for developing critical literacy and methodologically conscious analysis.
