✍️ Author: Dr. Boukhalfa Messaoud Much of what the English-speaking world knows of Arabic philosophy rests on translation. Yet while the passage of its vocabulary from Greek into Arabic, and from Arabic into Latin, has been documented term by term, the passage into English has received little corpus-controlled analysis. This book examines a controlled set of terms, among them burhān, taʾwīl, ʿaql, bayān and turāth, across two authors joined by a documented editorial relation: Ibn Rushd and Mohammed Abed al-Jabri, who edited him. It argues that conceptual equivalence is a relation between two argumentative systems, not two words: a rendering is adequate to the degree that it preserves what a term entails, excludes, opposes, licenses and presupposes. Evidence is drawn where published translators disagree, negative cases are included, and the framework is stated in a form that can be refuted. For translators, editors and students of Arabic and comparative philosophy. #أدليس_بلزمة #إصدارات_أدليس #ArabicPhilosophy #TranslationStudies #IbnRushd #AlJabri #Philosophy #كتب_جديدة
